4th Grade Students in Ms. Bomhoff, Mrs. Enders, and Ms. Streater's ELA classes finished up their first Unit of the pilot resource, CKLA all about personal narratives. Throughout the unit, students read different excerpts of memoirs, including "Small Steps: The Year I Got Polio" by Peg Kehret. Students learned all about Polio and how Peg Kehret was finally given a chocolate milkshake while in the hospital which ultimately brought her fever down and led to her recovery. To wrap up the unit, students wrote their own personal narrative and had a celebration where they shared their own narratives and had chocolate milkshakes.
